Pastoral Care

A high level of pastoral care is evident in the Middle Years Department, with all members of staff aiming to satisfy all the individual needs that may occur within a working school day.

All pupils take weekly sessions of Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE), within the curriculum. Matters of everyday concern to the pupils are discussed, as and when they arise, and pupils have the opportunity to ask about any particular worries or concerns. Staff are always available to listen to an individual pupil and to help where it is thought to be appropriate.

Houses

Pupils, throughout the school, are placed in one of three Houses:

  • Randall House Colour; Yellow
  • Richardson House Colour; Red
  • Owen House Colour; Green

Pupils contribute to their House on an individual basis, by earning House points and by taking part in House events, such as Public Speaking and sports events.

Assemblies

Assemblies form an important part of the weekly routine, at Rushmoor. All assemblies, either for the whole school, or for different sections of the school, are therefore regarded as important events. Assemblies are considered to encourage community spirit and offer an opportunity to transmit shared values, promote social cohesion, and act as a corporate mechanism in promoting values throughout the school.
