Combined Cadet Force
In 2007 Rushmoor students had their first opportunity to join Bedford Modern School Combined Cadet Force. In all, nearly 30 boys took up the opportunity. The first two terms were basic training. With guidance from experienced cadets, the new recruits were taken through procedures such as marching, map reading, gun handling, fitness requirements and a lot more. At the end of the training the cadets got to choose which section they wanted to join, Army, RAF, Navy or Royal Marines.
One of the biggest bonuses of CCF is the opportunities it gives the cadets, particularly on the camps and trips. The Navy have had many sailing excursions, the RAF cadets have had many opportunities to go flying and gliding and the Army and Royal Marines have had training weekends away.
Over the Easter break the cadets get the opportunity to go away for an adventure week. Activities on this trip can include paint balling, abseiling, surfing, coastal walking and quad biking. During the summer each section has an organised trip away, with some going as far as Scotland.
