Rushmoor School - It's an education.
I would like to welcome you to the Rushmoor School website. I hope you will find the site of interest.
I appreciate the importance you attach to selecting the best independent school for your son or daughter; childhood is something which can be experienced only once. With this in mind, and the belief that children learn best when they feel happy and secure, we aim to develop in our pupils a lifelong interest in learning - one which encompasses the full range of intellectual, cultural, artistic and sporting achievements of our society.
Pupils joining Rushmoor enter a small, friendly environment where individuals really do matter. There are small class sizes and classroom support is superb. There is no other school in Bedfordshire quite like Rushmoor and I would strongly urge you to visit us to witness day to day school life to see for yourself what an ideal environment the school offers in which to learn, develop and grow.
We believe in individual care and attention and we encourage a friendly, positive attitude in our pupils as well as an energetic sense of purpose. The staff know the importance of effort and personal discipline in enabling pupils to achieve the highest academic standards.
I am very proud to be the Head Teacher of a school that is judged to be 'Excellent' by the Independent Schools Inspectorate. A school that has a long history and a school that is willing to adapt to the ever changing world of education. A school where staff will go that extra step to ensure they are there to support pupils and their parents in the particular needs of the individual child.
I am very proud of our academic success. Our 2010/11 modular GCSE examination results were at a record high in the core subjects of Mathematics, English and Science. Indeed, we received 100% A* to C Grades in GCSE modular Science, which is an extraordinary achievement for a non-selective school.
At Rushmoor we never like to be complacent and are always seeking to improve facilities for the children. In September 2011 we will see the new Food Technology room open. This will allow pupils throughout the school to take part in cookery lessons. Food Technology will be introduced as a GCSE subject from September 2012.
The Early Years Foundation Stage children will have a purpose built new classroom in September 2011; a large open space that allows children to move freely between the 6 areas of learning. They will have access to a raised plant bed and new outdoor play equipment, with colourful displays to create a friendly, welcoming environment.
As Head Teacher my aim is to ensure that each child has reached their potential when they move on from Rushmoor and also to instil high moral standards in the pupils to allow them to become well-rounded individuals. If this sounds like the type of environment you wish your child to be educated in then please contact Mrs Austin, Head Teachers P.A., to arrange a personal visit with me. I look forward to meeting you.
