Standards Mr Daniel, Standards!
Welcome to Rushmoor school.
I am delighted to welcome your interest in Rushmoor Independent School and I hope that this web-site will give you an insight into life at the School. It can be no substitute, however, for a personal visit to the school to see for yourself what an ideal environment Rushmoor School offers in which to learn, develop and grow.
I appreciate the importance you attach to selecting the best independent school for your son or daughter; childhood is something which can be experienced only once. With this in mind, and the belief that children learn best when they feel happy and secure, we aim to develop in our pupils a lifelong interest in learning - one which encompasses the full range of intellectual, cultural, artistic and sporting achievements of our society.
At Rushmoor School we believe in individual care and attention. Visitors to the school are impressed, as I am sure you will be, by the friendly, positive attitude of the pupils and their energetic sense of purpose. The staff are caring and understanding, yet know the importance of effort and personal discipline in enabling pupils to achieve the highest academic standards.
Prospective parents and pupils can tour the school at any time and 'taster days' can be arranged. Come and experience our caring ethos which enables our children to develop the confidence and flexibility which allows them to face the demands of modern life.
I am very proud to be able to boast 22 years' experience of Rushmoor School. Prior to taking up my Headship I served as Deputy Head Teacher and previously as Head of the Senior School, as well as devoting many years as Head of the Geography Department and leading Rushmoor to many victories as Head of the Games and PE Department.
When I joined Rushmoor as a newly qualified teacher, little did I expect to work through the ranks to ultimately take over the reins. I vividly remember my Head of Department, Mr Pell, giving me a word of advice when I took over 'Standards Mr Daniel, Standards'. Those are the words that have inspired me throughout my long service to Rushmoor School and those words are foremost in my approach to Headship.
I have many areas of experience outside Rushmoor School. I have served as Chairman to a local children's charity and as a School Governor. I have also visited many schools throughout the country in my role as Team Leader for the EdExcel Examinations Board. I am an Inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate and feel by visiting many different types of schools, both independent and maintained, I can bring the experiences I learn into my own role to benefit Rushmoor pupils. I have also successfully undertaken the National Professional Qualification for Head Teachers.
I deeply believe in Rushmoor School and the education it provides to its pupils. We have a strong staff who really do know the individual children and we are very proud of our pupils' achievements. Pupils joining Rushmoor School join a small, friendly environment where individuals really do matter. There are small class sizes, of no more than 20 children, and classroom support is superb. Indeed, this is why my own young sons attend Rushmoor and why I have invested so much of my life into the school.
My main aim is to instill those precious standards in the pupils, to allow them to become well-rounded individuals.
If you would like to find out more about the standard of education Rushmoor is able to provide your child, please contact the School to arrange a personal visit with me. I look forward to meeting you.
